Stormwater Reporting

Stormwater reporting is the process of submitting data and information to the regulatory agency (usually the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or an authorized state or tribe) about the quality of stormwater runoff from a facility. The report is typically required for facilities that fall under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permitting program.

The report includes information such as the location of the facility, the types of activities taking place at the site, the results of stormwater sample collection, and the effectiveness of best management practices (BMPs) implemented to control pollutants. The report may be submitted on a regular basis, such as quarterly or annually, and must be completed according to specific guidelines and protocols set by the regulatory agency.

The main goal of stormwater reporting is to provide regulatory agencies with the necessary information to evaluate compliance with NPDES permit requirements and to identify any potential sources of pollution. The information provided in the report can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of BMPs and determine if any changes are needed to protect surface waters and groundwater from pollutants.

By submitting regular and accurate stormwater reports, facilities can ensure compliance with regulations, identify and correct non-compliant areas, implement best practices, and protect the environment. This can help to maintain a good reputation and avoid penalties and fines.

Lighthouse can set up accounts and submit reports through multiple State Agency programs (ex. GEOS).
