Small Quantity Generator (SQG)
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is a federal law that regulates the management and disposal of hazardous waste in the United States. The Small Quantity Generator (SQG) category under RCRA includes businesses and organizations that generate between 100 and 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste per month. These entities are subject to specific requirements outlined in the RCRA regulations to ensure the safe and responsible management of hazardous waste.
SQGs are required to properly store, label, and transport hazardous waste, as well as maintain accurate records and regularly report to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). SQGs also need to train their employees on how to handle hazardous waste and have contingency plan for emergency. In addition, SQGs are subject to inspections by the EPA to ensure compliance with the regulations. These regulations aim to protect the public and the environment from the potential harm caused by hazardous waste, while providing a level of flexibility for smaller generators to manage their waste.
