OSHA Emergency Action Plans

The Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is a written document that outlines the procedures an organization will follow in the event of an emergency. An effective EAP is essential for ensuring the safety of employees and the public, as well as minimizing damage to property and the environment. The EAP should include specific procedures for evacuating the building and accounting for employees, as well as procedures for emergency shutdown of equipment and utility systems. OSHA recommends that employers conduct regular drills and training to ensure that employees are familiar with the EAP and know what to do in an emergency situation. Employers are also required to review and update the EAP as necessary, and to inform employees of the plan and their roles in it.
